My name is Jacqueline, and I’m a practicing artist based in Northern NSW, Bundjalung land, but have deep connections with Far North Queensland and Brisbane, Australia. My practice investigates ideas of self, place and belonging, but ultimately what bodily presence feels like moving around a particular environment.  Through the performance of painting I aim to evoke encounters with the landscape in terms of colour, texture, shifting perspectives and movement; encouraging the viewer to explore new landscapes, bring memories to the surface or rethink their familiar surrounds in terms of their moving bodily presence.

Artwork available via Art to Art Gallery, Balwyn North, Victoria and  Revival Art & Design Gallery, Brisbane.

Major Projects

Current Distract|Attend. Currently researching the effects of modern media on lifestyles. I’m considering how slowing down and paying attention can be a rebellious act and counterpoint to this contemporary concern. I am pondering how creative flow and mindful attention can help us respond to the often overwhelming issues of our time and live a more empathetic life.

This project’s exhibition was held at Logan Art Gallery, QLD in January-March 2024.

2018 Wayfaring: Painting and Place in the Far North. Doctorate research where I developed a mindful painting-walking methodology as a mode of place-making in the Australian Tropics
