Meshwork: paths of place is an exhibition that explores bodily movement in forging a deep sense of place. The collection of paintings and digital collage prints use the multi-sensory experience of walking in natural environments as a basis for abstract meanderings. The works employ gritty texture, tropical colours and path motifs to re-imagine walking in places that are valued by the artist; including the landscapes of far north Queensland, northern NSW and locally. The series aims to highlight the beauty found in slowing down and attending to one’s surrounds; with each painting an imaginary walk derived from the landscape that ambles into imaginary internal terrain.
