Earlier this year I went to Armidale for a week as part of the ‘New Horizons: emerging voices in landscape’ program. This program was thoughtfully prepared by the team at New England Regional Art Museum, Regional Arts Australia & artist Angus Nivison.

Five of us artists got to spend time with master-abstraction-painter-generous-soul Angus in his studio and learn from his enduring practice. I was so grateful to hear of his experience of living in a regional area and forging an impressive career of painting from the landscape. We have touched base with Angus and knowledgable NERAM Director, Rachael Parsons a few times since in responding to the experience and putting a group show together.

The resulting work will be on display at the Armidale Gallery, October 2nd- Nov 8th. Angus has a major retrospective on too in the gallery that wraps up in early Oct. Get along if in the region!

So grateful for this experience and the prompt to experiment in my painting- this has been a real practice highlight so far!
